Cookies and what we store
Murdoku stores as little as it can. Here is every cookie it sets, what each one is for, and which of them you get a say over.
Strictly necessary
These make the site do the thing you asked it to do, so they are set without a prompt. None of them follows you anywhere else, and none is shared. We also record each visit and each sign-in attempt on our own servers, including the IP address it came from, the browser and device, and how long the visit lasted. Nothing is shared with anyone.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| murdoku_guest | A random locker number so a game you start without an account is saved and still there when you come back. It is meaningless on its own — no name, no profile. Set only when you first make a move, never for simply looking at the site, and deleted the moment your progress moves onto an account. | One year, or until you create an account |
| murdoku_session | Keeps you signed in. | Until you sign out |
Advertising — only if you say yes
If advertising is switched on, Google sets its own cookies. Those are not necessary for anything, so nothing is set until you accept, and declining costs you nothing: every case, score and leaderboard works exactly the same either way.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Chooses and measures adverts. | Set by Google; only after you accept |
Your choices
You can decline advertising cookies in the banner and change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser. Clearing that data also removes your guest locker number, which means a game played without an account is no longer reachable — an account keeps it safely.
